5 Week Intro To Hand Building Workshop

Join us for a five-week exploration of hand building in clay, designed to give you the time and space to develop your skills, experiment with different techniques, and create work at your own pace!

Over the first four weeks, we will explore a variety of foundational hand-building techniques, including pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction.

Each technique opens up different possibilities for form, texture, and design, and you’ll have the opportunity to experiment and incorporate these methods into your own projects.

With four weeks dedicated to building, you’ll have ample time to develop multiple pieces and work with your projects through different stages of dryness—from freshly constructed clay to leather-hard work ready for refinement. This slower process allows us to take our time, revisit pieces as they dry, and explore the possibilities of hand building without feeling rushed.

The fifth and final week is dedicated to glazing, where you’ll learn about glaze application and make finishing choices to bring your finished pieces to life.

Whether you’re completely new to clay or have previous experience, all levels are welcome. This workshop is a relaxed and supportive environment to learn, experiment, and get creative with clay.
